These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and Paceline Consulting LLC, doing business as Check This Email ("Check This Email," "we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Washington, governing your use of the checkthis.email website and email analysis service (collectively, the "Service").
By forwarding an email to help [at] checkthis.email, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
Check This Email is an AI-powered email assistance service. You forward any email to help [at] checkthis.email, and we provide a clear, plain-language analysis. Our Service helps you in two key ways:
Scam & threat detection — We analyze emails for scams, phishing attempts, malware, dangerous links, and other security threats, and explain what to watch out for.
Email understanding & explanation — We help you understand any email you've received, even if it isn't a scam. Whether it's a confusing notice from your bank, a legal letter, a medical bill, a government form, or any message you're unsure about, we'll explain what it means, what (if anything) it's asking you to do, and whether you need to take action.
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/EEA) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Your email address serves as your account identifier. When you first forward an email to help [at] checkthis.email, an account is automatically created for you on the Free plan.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree not to share your account or allow others to forward emails on your behalf to circumvent plan limits. If you believe your account has been compromised or misused, contact us immediately at info [at] checkthis.email.
We offer multiple plan tiers — Free, Plus, and Family — each with different features and usage limits. Current plan details, features, and pricing are available on our Pricing page.
Paid plans (Plus and Family) are billed on a recurring basis — either monthly or annually, depending on your selection at the time of purchase. Payment is processed through our third-party payment processor at the start of each billing cycle. All fees are stated in the currency displayed at checkout and are non-refundable except as described below.
If we offer a free trial of a paid plan, you will not be charged until the trial period ends. We will notify you before your trial converts to a paid subscription. You may cancel at any time during the trial period without charge.
You may cancel your paid subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to your paid plan's features until the end of your current billing period, after which your account will revert to the Free plan. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at info [at] checkthis.email within 14 days of the charge. We will review your request and issue a refund if appropriate.
We reserve the right to modify our pricing at any time. We will provide at least 30 days' written notice (via email) before any price increase takes effect. The new pricing will apply at the start of your next billing cycle following the notice period. If you do not agree to the new pricing, you may cancel before the change takes effect.
Each plan has a monthly limit on the number of emails you can submit for analysis or explanation. These limits are described on our Pricing page.

You agree to use Check This Email only for its intended purposes: having emails you have received analyzed for threats, or having them explained in plain language so you can better understand them.
You may not:
Abuse the Service — Submit emails you have authored yourself to test or refine malicious content, use the Service to validate phishing campaigns, or otherwise use the Service to facilitate fraud, deception, or harm.
Overload our systems — Send automated, scripted, or bot-driven requests, or otherwise attempt to overwhelm our infrastructure with excessive volume beyond your plan limits.
Reverse-engineer the Service — Attempt to extract, replicate, or reverse-engineer our analysis methods, AI models, or underlying technology.
Resell or redistribute — Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or any analysis results to third parties for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.
Violate laws — Use the Service in any way that violates applicable local, state, national, or international laws or regulations.
Submit prohibited content — Forward emails that you know contain child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or content that is illegal to possess or transmit. If we detect such content, we reserve the right to report it to the appropriate authorities and immediately terminate your account.
If you subscribe to the Family plan, the following additional terms apply:
Account holder responsibility — As the account holder, you are responsible for all family members added to your plan. You manage their access through your account dashboard and are responsible for ensuring they comply with these Terms.
Eligibility of members — Family members must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/EEA), or must use the Service under your direct supervision.
Shared usage limits — Family plan usage limits are shared across all members on the plan, unless otherwise specified on our Pricing page.
Report sharing — You may configure your settings so that family members receive copies of analysis and explanation reports. This feature is particularly useful for family members who may want a trusted person to help them review their emails. You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from family members before enabling this feature.
Removal — You may remove family members from your plan at any time. Family members may also request removal by contacting us at info [at] checkthis.email.
All content, features, functionality, software, designs, text, graphics, and other materials associated with the Service are owned by Paceline Consulting LLC (DBA Check This Email) or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose in accordance with these Terms. This license does not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or branding.
You retain ownership of any emails you forward to us. By forwarding an email, you grant us a limited, temporary license to process that email solely for the purpose of providing the analysis or explanation. This license terminates immediately upon completion of the analysis, at which point the email content is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
Specifically, we do not guarantee that:
Every scam will be detected — Scam techniques evolve constantly. Our AI-based analysis is a powerful tool, but it may miss new or sophisticated threats.
Every safe email will be correctly identified — Legitimate emails may occasionally be flagged as suspicious (false positives).
Explanations are complete or definitive — Our plain-language explanations are designed to help you understand what an email says and what it's asking of you, but they are not a substitute for professional advice. Emails related to legal, financial, medical, tax, or insurance matters may require review by a qualified professional.
The Service will be uninterrupted — We strive for high availability but cannot guarantee the Service will be available at all times. Maintenance, outages, and unforeseen events may interrupt access.
Results are error-free — While we strive for accuracy, our analysis and explanations may contain errors, and you should not rely on them as your sole basis for decision-making.
You acknowledge that no security or analysis tool can provide absolute protection or perfect accuracy. You are responsible for exercising your own judgment, and for seeking professional advice when the subject matter of an email warrants it.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
No liability for damages — Paceline Consulting LLC (DBA Check This Email) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, financial losses, identity theft, or other damages resulting from (a) your use of or inability to use the Service, (b) any analysis, explanation, or recommendation provided by the Service, (c) any decision you make or action you take (or fail to take) based on our analysis or explanations, or (d) unauthorized access to your account or data.
Cap on liability — Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $50 USD.
Basis of the bargain — You acknowledge that our pricing reflects this allocation of risk, and that we would not provide the Service at its current pricing without these limitations.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Paceline Consulting LLC (DBA Check This Email) and its members, managers, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting us at info [at] checkthis.email. If you are on a paid plan, cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, engaged in abusive or fraudulent activity, or if required by law. In the event of termination for cause, no refund will be issued.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. The following sections survive termination: Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law & Disputes, and General Provisions. Your account data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Provide a summary of changes so you can easily understand what's different.
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may cancel your account.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us at info [at] checkthis.email and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Most concerns can be resolved quickly through direct communication.
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and Paceline Consulting LLC (DBA Check This Email) agree to resolve any claims relating to these Terms or the Service through final and binding arbitration, except as set forth below. The arbitration will be conducted under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and will take place in the State of Washington or, at your election, via telephone, video conference, or online proceedings.
Either party may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights.
You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis only. You may not bring claims as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated, or representative action.
Entire Agreement — These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Paceline Consulting LLC (DBA Check This Email) regarding the Service, and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications, or understandings.
Severability — If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
No Waiver — Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by us.
Assignment — You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
Force Majeure — We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of government, internet outages, cyberattacks, or pandemics.
Notices — We will send notices to the email address associated with your account. You are responsible for keeping your email address current. Notices are deemed received when sent, provided no bounce or delivery failure is reported.
